Burn Ban Continues - Robertson and Surrounding Counties Under Red Flag Warning Due to High Risk of Wildfires

by Laura Chesner | Central Texas Star

The recent meeting of the Robertson County Commissioners Court did not seek to reverse the current burn ban and instead decided to continue the ban for the foreseeable future.
"Our county as well as the surrounding counties are currently under a red flag warning and the windy conditions are making it too dangerous to burn," explained Billy Huggins at the recent meeting.
"We understand that people have a lot of brush built up and they need to clear it, but the current wildfire threat is too severe," explained Huggins. The county commissioners agreed and voted to continue the ban.
Sheriff Ruland also addressed the court regarding the local Fire Departments and Emergency services. The various county Volunteer Fire Department heads met with the Sheriff to discuss how to improve dispatch and communications between agencies. Ruland felt that the meeting was productive and will bring about some positive changes in communications between agencies. Ruland told the court that the group plans to meet quarterly to discuss any issues that they can work together to resolve. "It's all about working together as a county," said Ruland, "we all work better when we're working together."
All of our Volunteer Fire Departments have big events to raise money coming up, from hog hunts to BBQ plates, there's a fun way to give back to the volunteers who keep us safe.
